On November 30, 2009, 300 supporters and friends of The Carter
Burden Center for the Aging gathered at Guastavino's on
Manhattan's Upper East Side for the 30th Annual Dinner Dance &
Awards Ceremony, Heroes for Hard Times: Strength & Resilience.

On November 30, 2009, 300 supporters and friends of The Carter
Burden Center for the Aging gathered at Guastavino's on
Manhattan's Upper East Side for the 30th Annual Dinner Dance &
Awards Ceremony, Heroes for Hard Times: Strength & Resilience.

The evening supported The Carter Burden Center's continuous
efforts to help older people to live independently, safely and
with dignity. The benefit evening began with a cocktail
reception, followed by dinner, awards ceremony and dancing to
The George Young Orchestra.

The evening honored: Lilliam Barrios-Paoli, Commissioner of
the Department for the Aging, with the Humanitarian Award for
Government; Roger Altman, Founder & Chairman of Evercore
Partners, with the Humanitarian Award for Philanthropy; David
V. Pomeranz, Associate Executive Director of The Hebrew Home
at Riverdale, with the Humanitarian Award for Collaboration;
Regis High School with the Humanitarian Award for
Volunteerism; Sally Bott, Group Human Resources Director at
BP, with the Humanitarian Award for The Carter Burden Center's
Board of Directors, and William J. Dionne, Executive Director
of The Carter Burden Center for the Aging, with the
Humanitarian Award for Staff. The six honorees represented
the various elements that are critical to helping The Carter
Burden Center continue to grow, develop and thrive. Susan
Burden, William Goldman, and Margaret & Ian Smith were the
Gala Co-Chairs.

The Carter Burden Center for the Aging, Inc. is a non-profit
agency established in 1971 by the late Carter Burden when he
was a New York City Councilman. The mission is to promote the
well-being of older adults through a broad array of direct
social services and volunteer programs oriented to individual,
family and community needs. The Carter Burden Center is
dedicated to supporting the efforts of older people to live
independently, safely and with dignity.
